Weeks later, he would learn from Shoko, the last second year, that he should not find himself alone with either, or worse, both boys at once. She never elaborated and he never asked, thinking it was just a nugget of her dry humor, for both Gojo and Getou were at her sides when she said it, and all three of them had snickered amongst themselves at every layer of the joke.
By then, Nanami had learned to take any interaction with his upperclassmen with a grain of salt, so he’d chuckled a bit, too. The lingering looks, the offhand comments, the searing presence when he was sparring with Haibara meant little-- it was just a means of sizing him up and feeling him out. Nothing more, he assured himself.
However, that also meant that there would come a point where they would deem him big enough to handle them.
