Summary
The routine wasn’t intentional or agreed upon. It sort of just…happened. Derek can’t even really remember when or how it started happening. To him, it kind of feels like it’s always been there, the comfort and quiet safety of having Spencer around, his big eyes and rapid mouth and mind that filled up the entire room even when he wasn’t talking.
Derek likes what they have going on, he loves spending time with Spencer.
He also kind of hates it, because it doesn’t do much of anything at all to help Derek get over this stupid crush on Spencer that he’s been harboring for god knows how long.

Summary
He hesitates outside Spencer’s door.
He shouldn’t.
He absolutely shouldn’t.
But he knocks anyway.
The door swings open and Spencer is standing there, his normally gelled hair is curling around his face, still slightly damp from the shower. His cheeks are flushed, and his oversized Cal Tech shirt shows enough collarbone to momentarily stall Derek’s brain.
All his words turn to mush in his throat.
The Popular Kids, but Derek decides the best way to help Spencer with his nightmares is to be there for them.

Matt could say no. He should say no. He should say he needs sleep before patrol. That he plans to spend the night beating up criminals and drowning in the heat of his own rage. That he needs to feel alive in ways that don't include Frank's hands on him.
And yet…
"You paying?" Matt lifts a brow and offers a crooked smile.

He cuts his hair and buys a closet’s worth of new suits. Tailored, clean cut, made from good quality material, better than anything he’s ever owned before. Foggy doesn’t let himself think about what Matt might have to say about the fabric, the haircut, the aftershave.
Foggy wonders if Matt would even recognize him in a crowd now, or if Foggy would just be another body, one more in a city of hundreds.

As far as randomly acquired superhero powers go, he is going to admit right now that his are kind of lame. Okay, lots lame. Sort of. But considering Matt is a complete and utter dingus with about the same self-preservation instincts as a mosquito flying full tilt into a bug zapper, he figures an extra edge - as fucking weird and annoying as it is – is probably worth the headache.

Summary
Matt hated fear above all other things.
He hated the feel of it. He hated the way it made his actions jaunty. He hated the way it made his chest ache. He hated the way it forced him to hesitate, to wait, to risk one more person’s life.
He didn't trust his body anymore. He didn't trust his own mind.
He was beating out his fear on the streets, earning more bruises and broken bones than ever before.
Matt barely knew who he was. When he woke in the confines of his former orphanage, he didn't even recognize his name; not as Father Lanton said it to him over and over.
When he ran out, he still hadn’t remembered his last one.
So he was in the streets dressed in black, all traces of his former self boiling down to a monosyllabic identifier -- one he wasn’t sure he identified with anymore. People called him the Devil. It felt more right than the former.

“Of course,” Karen says, and Matt can’t really read her tone, but that’s—normal for him, so he just listens as Foggy Nelson, Channel Two’s beloved meteorologist, tells them all about the seven day forecast. He uses four different weather puns and Matt laughs at all of them, catching his breath and sighing when they cut to commercial.
“Matt?” Karen asks, then, when Matt turns back to her. “What’s the weather going to be like on Wednesday?”
Matt blinks, trying to remember.
“Uhm,” he says. “I guess I didn’t catch it.”
