Summary

But even though Mira wants their hands - and more - on her, she doesn't know how to ask. So she teases; she plays the brat for her girls to tame.
Rumi and Zoey know how to get past those walls. When they do, they'll find just how much Mira can fold, stretch, and bend in their hands before she breaks.

"Bobby," she says, watching him carefully. "You're making a big deal out of this. What's wrong?"
His shoulders tense before easing into an odd half-relaxed state. Bobby turns to her, head tilting just so, a funny little furrow in the middle of his brow. A frown looks uncomfortable on him, cheeks sagging. "You just should have given us some time to prepare is all."
"Okay," Rumi says, though it sounds like a question. "I'll… keep that in mind for next time?"
"Maybe you should stay in town tonight," he adds. "It's dark out. Going to be hard to find your way through the forest—I'm sure Celine hasn't left the lights on along the path."
"I'll be fine," she insists with a dismissive wave. She leans her weight onto one leg and shakes the numbness out of the other. "Like riding a bike."
Or: Rumi has spent four years away from her hometown. Now that she's graduated, she's ready to visit her family again. But time has left her behind and things have changed—and someone else has taken her place.

Summary
In hindsight, it should have been obvious. The way Rumi refused to go to the bathhouse, her bizarre relationship with Celine, this whole thing with the Saja Boys? Mira prided herself on reading people, and she felt stupid for not seeing it sooner. The pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Rumi was gay.
The night after the joint signing with the Saja Boys, Mira went to confront Rumi about her ongoing weird behavior. Instead of letting hurt feelings drive the conversation, Mira took a minute to try and figure out what might be wrong. Unfortunately, she came to the completely wrong conclusion.
Misunderstandings ensue. They talk it out.

"Please, don't go," Mira begged, her hands firmly cupping Rumi's face, despair overwhelming her.
"I need to help her," Rumi's lower lip trembled, hearing distant howls warning her that the packs were in danger, and it was her fault. "I'll come home. I promise I'll come back to you."
"Rumi, please..." Rumi placed her hands over Mira's on her face, resting her forehead against hers.
She needed to go.
For the packs she had put in danger.
And for Zoey too.
Rumi thought she would never find a place to belong, that she was destined to be alone ever since she lost her pack. But now that she had found a family and formed a home with them, she would do anything for their safety.

"So," The store clerk starts, raking her gaze over Zoey like she's trying to put together a puzzle but is convinced that half of the pieces she has are wrong. "a farmer… huh?"
"Wha- I- guh- dnt- I can farm!" Zoey splutters, defensive.
The pink-haired woman just arches an infuriatingly perfect brow, a smirk starting to pull at one side of her mouth.
"Right. Because all farmers know that when the growing season starts the first thing they need to buy is three twelve packs of Monster."

It watches from the treeline, eyes glinting a primal, warning tone. It hasn't moved, not since Zoey spotted it, but Zoey gets the feeling thats intentional. Like it's daring her, waiting for her to make a decision and strike.
