Summary
Sydney had thought that once she finally gave Shapiro her answer, things would finally fall into place. The restaurant was finally making a (small) profit, her dish got rave reviews, the team was settling into their own respective roles, nobody had quit in over two months, and Marcus' nomination was only the cherry on top.
For the first time, she'd let herself believe that everything was going to be okay. She could finally see the light at the end of this long and strenuous tunnel.
And then Pete called.
And the news hit her hard. Like that light at the end of the tunnel was actually just a train coming straight to hit her.
Now the whole thing feels like a nightmare she can't wake up from.
She stares down at her prep notes, trying to concentrate, but it's like her brain can't focus on anything. All she can think about is this place without Carmy in it and how wrong it'll feel without him.
______________
Following the season finale, Sydney continues to struggle with Carmy's decision to leave The Bear. Meanwhile, Carmy is determined to hold his promise to pay off the restaurant's debt before time runs out, all while trying to repair his relationship with Sydney.Series

Summary
Natalie and Richie have gone home, but Carmy and Sydney are still here. The restaurant is quiet again. Almost too quiet for her liking.
The clock on the wall reads 1:27. It's late. They should both be home. But Sydney doesn't have the energy to move.
A part of her still hopes she's having another nightmare. That she'll wake up soon, and find that the updated agreement was nothing but a cruel invention of her subconscious.
But this isn’t a dream. She knows because she can feel the exhaustion from all the crying, and her mouth still tastes like the cigarette she tried to smoke earlier that night.

Carmy and Sydney continue their conversation right after the season finale

Summary
For most of his life, Carmy never thought of himself as a jealous person.
He’s never been jealous of anyone he’s worked with. If anything, being around talented chefs always pushed him to be better. He studied them, absorbed what they knew, used it as fuel.
He's never been jealous of his siblings, either. What was there to be jealous of? They were all treated the same by their shitty, abusive parents and could only count on each other.
He's never been a jealous boyfriend. Okay, sure, he hasn't dated much, but even when he was dating Claire, he didn’t get annoyed if a guy stared too long at her or tried to hit on her.
But that was before today.

Summary
“Claire left me a voicemail last night b-...before shit went down. Told me that she loved me.”
His voice is barely above a whisper like he’s telling her a secret that nobody else can hear.
“And do you? You… you know…love her?”
His eyes, blue as Lake Michigan, look straight into hers.
“I don’t think I do.”
She drops his hand at that moment, she needs to get out of this room.
What does he mean by that, and why does he keep staring at her? What the fuck is that about?“Good talk, chef.”

Summary
He doesn’t think he’ll ever get tired of looking at her. This is something he doesn’t tell anyone, doesn’t write down, used to try not to think about, except that he couldn’t help but think about it, and then he gave up on trying.
