Summary
All of Max's life fit more than comfortably in one duffle bag which was presently slung over his shoulder. There he was, standing awkwardly outside of Richie’s apartment building, smoking a cigarette and waiting for the man to come down to the lobby to meet him. He could've waited inside but he'd just felt so out of place it made his skin crawl. So, he just resorted to his tried and true fallback plan for escaping situations like that.
A cigarette break.

After Max’s attempt and beyond unexpected reunion with Richie, he doesn’t have much of a choice about moving in with his past victim. All he wants to do is lay down and die, give up and let the guilt swallow him whole, but he can’t. For some reason, Richie wants him to live; Max owes it to him to at least try.
Max doesn’t believe he can.
Even if he’s wrong, even if he can turn his life around, does he deserve that second chance?

Summary
Will’s tired. More tired than he thought possible. And he hates everything he’s done, is doing, and will do. It’s fruitless and unfulfilling. Worse than that is how unstable he feels. He is like a boat out at sea in the worst storm he’s ever seen. He knows better than to do it, but he wants to drop the anchor, and see where it takes him. A part of him hopes he crashes. The other hopes the cord gets severed. Only time will tell the outcome.
