“I’m trying to figure out,” Rose wonders aloud. “Are you always a complete prick? Just with women? Or just when you lose a game?”
Ilya barks a laugh, shocked and almost delighted, and his smile spreads wide enough that Rose can see all those pearly whites of his that are so much nicer than she expected any hockey player’s to be. “All the time,” he grins, “all the time. However much of an asshole Hollander has told you I am, double it.”
She answers truthfully, shrugs her shoulders in her tiny silver dress. “He hasn’t mentioned you at all.”
After a shitshow of an evening in a Montreal nightclub, Ilya wakes up the next morning in Shane’s bed. Only, he’s not in Shane’s bed — Rose Landry is, and he’s in Rose Landry’s body, and she’s in his. Well, what the fuck are they supposed to do with that?

Summary
Ilya rarely goes twenty-four hours without hearing the name ‘Shane Hollander’. Not that he’s complaining. It’s one of his favorite topics, especially when talking to the press. So when the reporter gives him a lowball, easy question, he jumps at the basically blanket free reign the reporter has given him.
“How well do you know Shane Hollander?”
“I do not, very well,” he starts, because he knows how to toe Hollander’s line. He does not want to scare him away by implying too close a tie. He can’t help but add, however, “He is third liner now, da? Good for him. Maybe one day he will play good hockey.”
Reporters around the room pause to scratch quick notes onto their books. This is how he knows he’s fucked up.

“You should share your location with me,” is the first thing Ilya says when their next Facetime call connects.
“Oh. Um. Why?” Shane did not think Ilya was going to glean any interesting information from that. Shane liked his routines, and his routines included his apartment, the Bell Centre, and his now rerouted running trail.
“There is a man stalking you all over Montreal, in case you have forgotten.” Ilya arches an eyebrow, his mouth pinching unhappily at the corner.
Or: Shane acquires a stalker from that night in Mexico. He tries to deal with it alone, until he no longer can.

Summary
Ilya wishes he knew what he's doing wrong, for everyone in his life to decide Shane is someone to be worried for just because he is dating Ilya. It's even worse that the decision never seems to take more than ten minutes of knowing him.
Is it just written on his forehead? Careful, this man ruins everything he touches, keep away from precious people.
Or; Ilya heavily misunderstands who Shane's loved ones are worried for in their relationship.
