Summary
Twenty years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the Malfoy family's association with Voldemort has made them social outcasts. Hermione has only seen Draco a handful of times since their school days, but he looks exhausted when she notices him in the lobby of a hotel during a charity gala. Dear Malfoy,
Hi. This is probably weird and unexpected, to hear from me, but here we are.
I'm sorry for Hogwarts. We said a lot of awful things to each other and I've just been thinking about it a lot. My therapist encouraged me to reach out — she said I deserve closure. I've grown enough in the ten years since we met to be able to authentically hope that you are doing well.
I'm also sorry that I didn't give you your wand back in person after the trial. I reckon that's a weird thing to be sorry for, but it's weighed on me for three years. I never got to thank you directly for saving my life. Without you and your mum, Voldemort would have won. So I'm saying it now, even if it's late. Thank you, Malfoy.
P.S. I heard through the grapevine that you moved to Italy. I'm jealous. London is as dreary as ever.
