"You know," Sirius rasps, shrugging his blazer off his shoulders and slumping back against the door, "Most people would default to a level one, love."
Remus laughs, cupping Sirius' face in his hands and sealing their lips together in a hungry kiss. "You can handle it."
"Can I?" Sirius groans, nipping at Remus' bottom lip. He winds his arms around Remus' neck and presses up against him until Remus can tell how badly he's trembling. "Want to show me what else I can handle?"

They’re so close. Sirius can feel Remus’ hot, bated breath on his skin. He can see every one of Remus’ honey freckles and the white spiderwebs that course through his scar tissue. He can hear every one of Remus’ sharp inhales and shaky exhales; It’s the only sound he can hear above his own heart racing through his veins.
And his heart is doing that —racing. But it’s not like a thud, thud, thud in his chest or even a soft, fluttering sound like a warm, Irish lilt. The sound is more like a swoosh, like a pendulum swing, jumping from white-hot anticipation to cold-blooded fear and back again.

Remus is a storm blowing through Sirius’ small town and Sirius is laid out on the waterlogged cobblestone streets waiting to be washed away.

Summary
When rival acquisition editors Remus Lupin and Sirius Black meet under less-than-ideal circumstances on a train to the Scottish Highlands, both pray it's a one-off encounter they'll never have to repeat.
Then they disembark in the same tiny village—both there to compete for the unpublished manuscripts of a beloved romance novelist—and realize they’re stuck in a very small world with very competing interests. What they don’t expect is to be lodged in the same cottage, sharing tea, thin walls, and an escalating amount of mortification.
Remus just wants to do his job without being patronized by the effortlessly charming man who seems to float through life on old money and good looks. Sirius just wants to prove himself without getting flayed alive by the prickly, devastatingly attractive editor who sees straight through him.
