James knew next to nothing about skating. He couldn’t name any of the moves, didn’t know how the scoring worked. Beyond the occasional glimpse of the sport during the Olympics, he’d never watched it. He was beginning to think that was a mistake. Now that he was here in person, standing in a gigantic, chilly arena, he understood how electrifying it was to watch someone dance on the edge of a knife.

“What a stupid password,” Sirius interjected before James could offer Remus the rest. “How about just, I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
“Fine,” said James begrudgingly, “but we need a password to clear the map off, too. How about, I hereby proclaim that—”
“How about, Mischief managed,” Remus interrupted.
James frowned. “I dunno…where’s the ceremony? Where’s the flair?”

James was not supposed to fall in love with his best friend‘s brother, but here he is anyway. Turns out though, trying to start a relationship with an oncoming war is just as hard as it sounds, but James is determined to make it work anyway.
When school becomes secondary with a war on its way and Pandoras visions become more and more confusing, however, they all find themselves in a bit of a predicament; which friends can they trust, and who is the real enemy? Not everything is always as it seems.

One day, his life is interrupted after he saves an illegal animagus James from some Aurors, who decides to stay in the safety of Remus's home. Turns out a whole pack of werewolves, discriminated against by the Ministry of Magic, makes the same decision and sets camp in front of his house.
Remus and James go to Dumbledore, who has enough influence in the wizarding world to stop the Ministry and let Remus regain his privacy.

It was odd for Lupin to bring up horcruxes in specific, why not another one of the many pieces of magic in the book.Canon divergent set in 1977-1979 following Remus and Regulus in the early days of the war. Remus is sent to investigate the werewolves starting in sixth year rather than seventh and Regulus ends up taking the dark-mark early after hearing something particularly interesting from Slughorn. With the changes and challenges these two events lead to, the pair ends up working together to discover the inner workings of Voldemort's plans and form an odd partnership in hopes to thwart it.
