Summary
Illumi had long accepted himself the architect of Hisoka’s doom.
It was written in their vows. It was in the biting, bloody kisses they shared in the dark. It was in the nightshade etched into the inside of Illumi’s wedding band. There would be no telling when. Tomorrow, tonight—twenty years in the future. Hisoka would fight back, of course; that went without saying. He’d go down with flesh under his nails and black hair fisted between his fingers, but he would go down nonetheless. Illumi did not start fights he could not finish.
There was a question Hisoka liked to whisper when they were alone. As they read together in the static buzz that passed for silence in the city, as they tumbled onto bed in as one sweaty, united figure, or as Illumi chopped vegetables and hummed along with the radio, Hisoka would look up from whatever he was doing with a faraway grin unique to the occasion, and ask that one word:
“How?”
An anthology of short works in which Illumi considers how he might kill his husband. Table of contents included.

Summary
'Illumi reached unblinking for his waistband, and Killua seemed to realize what he meant to do. In an instant, he snapped the manacles around his wrists and made to flee like a mouse who’d just registered the glue under his feet, but it was entirely in vain—Illumi was simply quicker. Before Killua’s feet could make it a centimeter closer to the ground, Illumi dove two pins through his palms and into the concrete behind. Killua’s back hit the wall with a dull thud, crucified and swinging off the floor.
Killua opened his mouth as if to scream, but all that tumbled out was one choked syllable.'
When Killua returns home from the Hunter Exam, Illumi confronts his hurt in the basement of the Zoldyck estate.

Summary
“We go to the party together.”
Illumi knew he’d ask, and so he had already come up with an answer. When Hisoka tagged along on his jobs, he seemed to consider entertaining himself amongst his primary objectives; which was to say, when they worked together, the job got done, but rarely according to plan.
He exhaled in a noise that was half sigh, half huff.
“Fine.”
Hisoka’s grin widened.
“Then follow me.”’
OR: When Illumi receives a mission that will require him to infiltrate a party held by an eccentric Yorknew billionaire known for his unusual taste in fashion, he requires a little assistance.

Summary
'“You killed my target.” Illumi took a step forward, aura flaring.
“Oh, did I? He did call me a clown,” the magician whined. “Was I to let that slide?”
“You killed my target.” The assassin only repeated himself. “Don’t expect me to believe you aren’t here for a reason.”
“Clever, clever.”
Hisoka pushed off from the wall and exited the elevator just as the door whirred shut behind him.'
Shortly after the Hunter Exam, a mission of Illumi’s is sent awry.

Summary
“Illumi didn’t realize how close he’d drifted until he looked up and realized Hisoka’s lashes were practically fluttering against his cheek. He started back from where he’d been leaning over the desk, finger to the page. Hisoka smirked in his direction; the muscles in his face had gradually relaxed over the past hour and a half.
“What’s the matter?” the magician tittered. “Are you getting distracted?”’
When the possibility of a written test arises during the Hunter Exam, Hisoka requires the tutelage of his more learned associate.

Summary
You remained standing in the middle of the room, the kiss leaving you warm and unsteady—your fingers still curled in the fabric of his robes as Mr. Michaelis regarded you with a now more neutral expression. You barely had time to draw another breath before a second presence pressed against your back.
You startled hard enough that a soft sound escaped your throat.
Hands settled at your waist from behind. Warm breath brushed the side of your neck. When you twisted to look over your shoulder, crimson eyes met yours—identical, amused, and unmistakably…
“Surprise,”

Summary
Sometime over fifty years ago, on a returning voyage from the Dark Continent, something from the Dark Continent snuck into the Known World. This creature has been seen before in the Known World, but it wasn’t exactly common. Vampires pop up every few hundred years, but are mostly relegated to myth and rumor believed only by crazed old men. This one, Hisoka, was living a fabulous life among tech savvy humans, essentially an all-you-can-eat buffet of a society, when he came across the most enchanting creature he had ever seen. Never one to deny himself a damned thing, he took what he wanted, and from there, everything changed.
TLDR: Essentially a ‘what-if’ scenario with vampires that spun out of control. Hisoka is pretty vampire-coded already, so this just capitalizes on that.
Important Note:
So far “The Magician’s Coven” covers the coven founding, the Pre-Hunter Exam mini-arc, and is currently going into the Hunter Exam Arc. There are plans that span at least up to the Yorknew City Arc, however the unofficial plan is to eventually match up with the manga in terms of progression and possibly surpass that. Let’s pray for the Chimera Ant Arc-with-vampires remix if we get there. -
