Summary
Steve shouldn’t be so hurt about it. It’s not like he's super close to the man. Sure, he feels a little bit fluttery around him, sure, he catches himself staring at him a lot when he’s around, and sure, maybe he wanted to kiss him, but he’s not close with him. It’s whatever.
It’s not whatever. Weeks pass, and things don’t change, and Steve gets more and more frustrated. He doesn’t know what he expected- whether he thought that maybe when they formed more of a bond, he would touch him more, or what. But he doesn’t.

Summary
And Wayne liked the rest of Eddie’s friends, but he still got the bubbling anger at Steve Harrington. Even after months of dealing with the boy, he still couldn’t get over the fact that he had been one of the kids to make Eddie’s life hell in high school, and he was not going to forgive him for that.
Things changed one night, when he heard a knock at the door. Eddie asked him to get it, because he was busy painting his little toys for his game, and so he did, and was met with Steve Harrington, tears running down his face and mixing with blood that covered him, purple bruises blooming over tanned skin. Steve flinched at the mere sight of the man, and Wayne realized that maybe he had been wrong all along, because Steve Harrington was different, wasn’t he?

Summary
Maybe Steve was unloveable. Maybe the rottenness of his parents, the rottenness of his past had ruined him, and everyone could see it. Maybe he was broken. There must have been something wrong with him, right? Why else would nobody ever stay?
Steve doesn’t know why it hurt that much to hear. He knew Eddie didn’t like him back. Maybe it was the fact that he had, at one point. Maybe it was the fact that in high school, when Steve was an asshole, Eddie liked him, but now that he was better, now that Eddie knew the real him, he didn’t.
He knew it was coming, he really did. Of course Eddie would never like somebody like him. He was a bad person. He would never be better. He would never be able to make up for his King Steve days. Why did he ever think he could?

Steve had been in his routine, in his head, when it happened. It was an accident, a simple mistake. It shouldn't have caused the reaction it did. Just a slip of the hand, fingers going from grasping wet glass to air and a loud clattering sound.

They, Peter and Tony, had been working in one of the labs together on a new type of web fluid that could conduct electricity. He had been working in a daze, mind still caught up in his Aunt’s death, of her bleeding out in his arms, when Peter accidentally dropped the beaker he was holding, reflexes too slow to catch it in time.
The, admittedly unstable, mixture had spilt all over his Spider-Man suit, one Tony had gifted to him when they had begun to work together more despite the fact neither Tony nor any other Avenger truly knew who Spider-Man was under the mask. It splashed over him, fizzling and charring into a black mess that stained the floor.
Glass shot out as the beaker clattered down, a shard of it nicking Tony’s ankle and letting the corrosive liquid splatter across his bare skin. “What the hell?! How could you drop that? We were so close to working that out, you’ve just destroyed weeks of work! Get out of my sight Spider-Man.”
