Summary

Penelope Bridgerton had seen her fair share of poor London weather, but snow in late April was downright ridiculous. She never thought she would be the kind of person longing for summer and its hot, sticky nights, but as she trudged through the slush of George’s school campus to make her way to the infirmary, she prayed for warmer, but more importantly, drier days.
“What’s going on?” she asked as soon as she burst through the doors.
The nurse was speaking to another student, who appeared to be in good health, so she turned her attention to the panicked mother.
“A head cold, I presume,” the nurse stated calmly. “I gave him some medicine.”
They walked together to the back room where George was resting on a cot, a blanket with the school emblem draped over his small body. He was asleep.

Game Theory is the study of strategic decision-making used to analyze conflicts, alliances, and negotiations between States. Because global politics lacks a governing authority, nations act as independent players, choosing specific strategies based on how they expect others to respond. Every decision yields a payoff, a reward or penalty, and interactions often stabilize at a Nash Equilibrium, where no country has an incentive to change its strategy alone. These interactions are categorized into distinct types of games depending on how the rewards are distributed. In zero-sum games, one nation's gain is another's loss, whereas non-zero-sum and positive-sum games allow for mutual benefits where collective rewards exceed initial resources. Finally, cooperative vs. non-cooperative games determine whether States can enforce binding agreements or if they must operate out of self-interest.

In which Penelope tries to get Colin's attention at a series of weddings one summer, and in which she eventually succeeds and finds out why he was ignoring her despite obviously being intrigued by her.
