It was silent like the world had been abandoned, like he was the last one alive, and yet he didn’t feel like he was alone out here. It was a strange feeling, made him shiver, made his stomach twist with nerves.
He just had to focus on surviving. Survive long enough for his dad and the crownsguard to find him, or for him to find his way back to them. Then he could go home and put this whole mess behind him.
After a failed kidnapping attempt that leaves him stranded, eleven year old Noctis has to try and survive on his own until help arrives.

Summary
A scream tears from his throat as he plummets through the floor, right through decaying wood and the cheap peeling plaster of the ceiling, wind whistling rapidly past his ears, eyes wide open in shock as he twists desperately, hands clawing about in the air, wanting some way to stop his descent. There's no time for a second scream as the floor of the previous story rushes up far too fast, and it's only after he's gone through it, body scraping painfully on broken boards, arm catching briefly and ripping open skin, that he registers he's gone right through a hole in that floor, falling further down to the story below.
Noct's avoidance of his royal obligations sets off a chain of events no one could have foreseen, culminating in him falling through three stories of an abandoned building. Unfortunately, no one knows where he is, and as his condition worsens, it soon becomes a tense challenge to find him in time.

“It’s possible they’re attracted to your immune system.” The dagger Ignis embeds in the skull of a Sahagin makes it sigh.
“What are you talking about, Specs?”
“The magic.” Ignis shakes off his gloves. “Infection raises stress hormones. Stress hormones raise blood sugar. Your intrinsic crystal magic wants to keep you at your optimum, thus rides the blood glucose to heal the body. In other words, your magic is up.”
