Summary
Hallucinations torment Edward when he goes too long without blinking. A constant reminder of the gaping hole in his heart that longed for connection. A dull ache that settled in his bones and never left.
——
Edward was never allowed to get this close with anybody, not in such an intimate manner. This was the closest two bodies could ever be with one another, and he intended to get as close as humanly possible. He would crawl under your skin and cocoon there if he absolutely had to. He would reemerge in a beautiful metamorphosis, a complete transformation. No longer would he be Edward Nashton. He would be something purer.

——
A plain brown coat hung from narrow shoulders. Dark hair fell untidily across his forehead, and a pair of clear-framed glasses caught the sterile light each time he lowered his head toward the notebook lying open before him.
He wasn’t eating, besides him, his coffee had gone untouched. Instead, he wrote.
You found yourself studying him longer than you intended.
