His train of thought keeps jumping all around the place, as if there’s something very acutely on fire in every corner of his vision. That’s not good. “Okay, okay—Rocky! Hold on a minute, I’m not dying!” …Is he not? That seems to be news to his nervous system.
Rocky quiets down reluctantly, waiting for him to go on. Grace hesitates.
“Um…” he says, eloquently. “I… didn’t notice?”
Or, human brain signals are confusing. Rocky does not approve.

Except gravity is weird, Rocky is way less helpful than Grace would hope, he’s been dragged into at least five jobs he did not want in the slightest, and he still doesn’t know his own name!

Grace wakes up in an unfamiliar courtyard, with complete retrograde amnesia and what is perhaps the strangest fox he’s ever seen. He dubs her Mary, and is content having her follow him around as his newfound emotional support animal companion, right up until she awakens a strange connection to gravity within him and starts throwing him around like a zero-G stressball. He flounders his way through whatever jobs he gets forced into (who’s Eva Stratt anyways?), trying to find out who exactly he’s supposed to be. He’d have an easier time, he thinks, if this other gravity guy would stop throwing wrenches at him!

What the title says. About 11 years ago (from my perspective; relativity is weird) I was launched into space onboard the Hail Mary to figure out a solution to the Astrophage problem. Now I live on an alien planet I call Erid, in the 40-Eridani system. Yes, I’m actually Ryland Grace. Ask me anything.

The messages kept coming, now from others that Colt hadn't blocked. Dan and Jody's names popped up too, all with questions about Ryland and if Colt was fine. He wasn't, Colt wasn't fine. But staring at all of these notifications gave him a reminder.
Colt picks up his phone and dials a number.
"... Colt?"
"Henry."
