Summary
The vampire turns to look at him. His head is tilted to one side, and there’s a smile at the corner of his mouth. Earlier, on the bed, his incisors had seemed huge, too big for his mouth, sharp and glinting. A thick trail of drool had been hanging from his bottom lip. It made him look like a wild animal. There’s something of the animal in him now, although it’s a different kind of animal, something only just domesticated and very visibly on its best behaviour.
Winter, 2001. Dominic, a vampire, plucks Matthew out of one hell and into another.

Summary
“Dominic. Let’s assess the situation here. We’re in a car. I’m driving a car I’ve never driven before. In a city I’ve never driven in before. In a country that I’m not even sure you can identify, and I’m sharing aforementioned car with this tit who seems utterly intent on getting into my pants before getting into Britain. And it’s fucking boiling. And I’m hungover. And I’m thirsty. I’ve been wearing this suit for twenty-four hours or something now. I don’t remember when I last ate. There is sweat running down my back and it tickles. And I’m still not sure which side of the road I’m supposed to be on.”
September 2010. A neurotic engineer and a self-obsessed actor get stranded in Istanbul and agree to drive home together.

Summary
He wonders, not for the first time, how he ended up in this situation. Or, well, the how is pretty self-explanatory; Matt barged into the back of the bus with half a head of bleach soaking into his dark hair and insisted that Dom do the back because he doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head, as if that was somehow Dom’s fault. The why is what’s eluding him.
