The thing is, now that Ino has pointed out that Kakashi is handsome, Naruto can’t stop noticing it.
Of course he finds Kakashi handsome. Who wouldn’t? It’s perfectly normal, Naruto tries to rationalize. Kakashi is strong, and skilled, and kind. He’s the Hokage. It’s normal to be infatuated with the Hokage. And he has a nice body, because he’s a shinobi. And a nice face – or whatever Naruto can see of his face. A nice eye. It’s nice. So what.
Naruto buries his face in his pillow to stifle his scream.
No.
No, this won’t do.
Having a crush is one thing. Having a crush on Kakashi-sensei? Kakashi’s a pervert. He reads Jiraya’s awful pervy novels in public. He slouches around like he doesn’t care about anything and never files paperwork and makes Naruto complete D ranks just because. He can’t be crushing on Kakashi-sensei.
Naruto develops a crush. It's a problem.

“You know, if you keep on scowling like that, it will turn permanent.”
He turns towards the door; Kakashi leans on the wall, smiling at him. His scar is present, jagged around the edges, and the eye socket is empty.
In this reality, Obito never gave him the eye.
“Do you want to scare off the elders?” Kakashi doesn’t move from his spot. He seems… happy. Light. So unlike the trash he should be. “Not that I’m opposing. I think that would be…” he lowers his voice, glancing at Obito with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, “hot.”
Obito absolutely bluescreens.
He freezes, staring at Kakashi in disbelief; the aforementioned laughs, awkwardly. His shoulders shake, and the shirt he is wearing is very tight. The fabric stretches as he does, and it shows off his muscles.
“Okay, that was bad, I admit it. Don’t judge me, I’m not in my prime yet, it’s too early.”
Obito doesn’t move.
Training with Madara didn’t prepare him for whatever this is. He can almost imagine his strained, elderly voice, losing his mind and screaming about world peace, Hashirama, wars and Hashirama again.
Or; Obito (before Shippuden) gets stuck in an alternate reality. Save him.

Rin is staring at both of them in disbelief.

Obito offers her a sheepish smile; judging by her state, she’s been training with Minato while waiting for them to arrive.
“There was this old lady—“
Kakashi nods, readjusting his mask. His face is covered in scratches.
“And then we had to help a feral cat.”
“The cat wasn’t feral, you barked at it.”
“Maybe it deserved to be barked at, have you considered that?”
Obito looks at him, and considers his options.
Maybe he made a mistake by being nice to him and calling his dad a hero. The bratty jerk was easier to deal with than a clingy six-year-old.
This is the same person who will one day become one of the most feared shinobi.
The knowledge of the future feels like a curse once more.
Or, after dying in the Fourth War, Obito wakes up in the past. Problems transpire.
