“We could…be friends, maybe.” Shane’s voice was small, hesitant on almost every sound.
“Wha–” Ilya’s reply was less of a word and more of a stupid, confused noise like he’d been punched. A punch probably would’ve caught him less off guard than what Shane actually said.
“Y’know, text about the hockey gossip? You call, I answer? Friends.”
Something terrifyingly bright exploded into Ilya’s chest. Something dangerous, that felt like maybe it could keep him warm through the summer in Russia, through the chill that permeated his childhood home no matter how warm it was outside.
“And also we like to suck each other’s dicks,” he quipped, trying to deflect.
“Fuck off, Rozanov.”

Summary
The morning after the draft, Ilya stared at the headline for far too long. At Hollander’s beaming smile, at his young, innocent happiness, at the terrible hair and big brown eyes and the way he looked in the Bear jersey. Ilya’s colors. Ilya felt a rush of possessiveness that wasn’t at all appropriate. Hollander was so… edible. Ilya wanted to unhinge his jaw like a python and swallow him down.
He closed his eyes. That wasn’t appropriate. That wasn’t at all appropriate. Hollander was Ilya’s rookie and he was soon to be billeting him. There will be no eating. No nibbling, no gnawing, no gobbling, no swallowing.
He switched to his texts and tapped the number Keppler had sent him.
“Hello?” asked Hollander’s tentative voice. Oh, Ilya would not survive this.
“Hi,” Ilya said, brightly. “Shane Hollander?”
“Oh,” Hollander said. “Are you… Ilya Rozanov?”
What about just a tiny nibble? One little nibble on one of those cute cheeks?

Summary
Shane Hollander is the most sought-after goalie on the market in the 2015 offseason. The Bears are thrilled when they get the steal of the decade by signing him out from under Montreal. It’s even cooler that their captain is so close with Hollander. The two are like, best friends or platonic soulmates or something.
Alternatively: 5 times the Boston Bears should’ve guessed that Hollander and Rozanov were totally gay for each other + 1 time when everyone knew (Except Carmy).
