Part two: Three fishermen make an unlucky catch
—
“An old flame long overdue a smothering? Where’d you dig up Dr. Du Maurier?”
Hannibal inclines his head, occupying his hand instead with the dried leaves littering the cushion. “It’s still inconclusive whether I’ll snuff out this particular candle,” he says. “But the occasion calls for something grand regardless. I, for one, would greatly appreciate your company.”
Will snorts. “Not sure the good doctor will feel the same way.”
“No?” Hannibal’s eyes narrow with a smile. “She’ll come around.”

“Not fond of psychology then I gather?” Hannibal asks once Jack has disappeared from his periphary.
“Not fond of therapists,” Will Graham stresses. “Very nosy bunch, and a little too fond of me.”
—————
The murder of a young woman calls the BSU to rural Louisiana. Hannibal is a reluctant participant, weary of the uninspired culprit, the heat, and the unrefined backdrop of the town they find themselves in. When he meets the clever game warden Will Graham, he feels the fates pull at the thread of his life. Maybe this trip is worthy of his time after all.

Summary
Will should have known from the moment he’d suggested they sign a prenup and Hannibal had said, don’t be perverse.
There was that joke, wasn’t there, that went something like, marriage is a death sentence. No—marriage is a life sentence. Just before signing his name on the marriage certificate, he had had a flash of panic—or a flash of sound fucking thinking for once—that told him very clearly, don’t. He didn’t listen, and here he was.- Language:
