His Support Bond Mark, on his right inner forearm, suddenly began to burn, as if reacting to the presence of the newcomer. Wei Wuxian reflexively covered his Mark with his left hand, and Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes when he saw him do so.
The sect leader stretched out his whip with both hands, and the purple lightning coming out of the weapon dimly illuminated the cold hatred on his face:
"You should have stayed dead."

Summary
The third thing that goes wrong takes him a while to put together, buzzed as he is. He’d opted to burn off much of the alcohol with his golden core, but had allowed a few drinks’ worth to remain in his blood to ease his situation.
It has been, he thinks, about two hours since he entered the room, and the touches have gotten slightly more daring, but his biggest problem, really, is his bladder.
It is full. Very full. And that’s when he realizes why the tea, why the wine, and why he hasn’t been drugged. That was never the point.
The point is, of course, humiliation. He really should have expected this from Guangshan. He can’t keep the angry sneer off of his face.
Jin Guangshan coerces Jiang Cheng into being the entertainment for one of his exclusive parties by holding the monetary needs of the freshly rebuilt and still vulnerable Jiang sect over his head. Jiang Cheng agrees, but once he's there he realizes Jin Guangshan hadn't told him the half of it.

Summary
The duty Jiang Cheng has as sect leader and the duty he has towards his parents doesn’t care about his needs and wants; doesn’t ask about his ideologies and dreams. All it asks is: what is the cost it takes to restore Yunmeng Jiang to former glory.
When Jin Guangshan offers his help to rebuild Lotus Pier after the Flower Banquet, Jiang Cheng refuses. Only when he realizes that he cannot restore his parents’ home without help, he reconsiders the offer. And so he accepts, surprised when he learns that Jin Guangshan does not want anything in return.

Blinking open his one good eye – the other swollen shut from a well-placed punch – Jiang Cheng takes a moment to adjust to the darkness, and as he does, a shape begins to form from it.
All he sees, in the beginning, are glowing eyes the colour of blood, and from the shadows steps a beast on all fours. Black fur covers its gigantic body, sharp teeth glinting in what little light filters into the room, and it does not stop until it is only a few paces away from where Jiang Cheng lies on the floor.
The giant wolf – a demon, without a doubt, no normal wolf could be so large, or have eyes that colour – huffs at Jiang Cheng, warm breath ruffling the hair that’s plastered to his face with his own blood.
