Summary
When Thorin dies in Bilbo's arms, Bilbo decides to retreat back to the Shire and leave his new life behind in the hopes of pretending none of this ever happened. Unfortunately, Bilbo is pregnant, and he never got around to telling anyone in the chaos of Thorin's madness. He finds that the Shire is far different than he remembers, or perhaps he has changed more than he thought, and raising a baby on his own while he has become something of a pariah is harder than he expected. Then, one day, very familiar dwarves show up on his doorstep, and reveal that Thorin was never actually dead. Now Bilbo is forced to come to terms with potentially reuniting with a love he thought he'd lost with a toddler who has no idea he even has another father. For the third time in a handful of years, Bilbo must decide whether or not to make the long journey across the horizon, and if he goes, is he willing to fight to regain what he lost?
