Summary
Things had been different lately. Shifting, changing. Slow and gentle enough that it couldn’t be pinpointed to a single event, but a culmination- little by little- of anomalies. Of things that didn’t quite add up in Määnin’s brain. That made his stomach twist subconsciously, though he never truly stopped to unpack the reason why.
Tommy was quieter these days, certainly. More distant, perhaps, and settled in a way he’d rarely ever been. Like a raging storm tamed to a gentle breeze.
Tommy moves on. Määnin doesn’t.

Summary
For years Tommy learned how not to look at Määnin too long. To not stare at the crease in his lips when he grinned or linger when their shoulders touched loading gear.
Praise had been his only outlet: his worship, half-masked as musical admiration.
On stage, they were friends and bandmates. Off stage, the lines began to blur. But as the tour wears on, Tommy has to decide how much of himself he can keep at arm’s length and how much he’ll lose if he lets Määnin sink deeper into his destructive impulses.

Axel does not scream. He doesn’t move. He simply lets his consciousness detach and drift somewhere far above Italy. Somewhere where the walls are thick, where people keep their noises inside their bodies, where scorpions do not live in kitchens, where old women do not vanish into herb-scented moonlight. Somewhere where his oldest friends are not possessed by lust demons.

Summary
It was a grossly pathetic display of vulnerability, and if it were anyone else helping him in this state, he would be filled with a sort of inconceivable rage. But despite his shame, there was something about Tommy helping him like this, having dropped his frontman facade and being entirely genuine; it stirred something in Määnin, something he pretended that he wasn’t so sure was purely platonic.
Määnin ends up in hospital, and Tommy becomes overprotective to a fault. In a platonic way, obviously.
