Summary
It’s obvious what Fuma wants. Yudai can feel the tug in his chest. Like there’s a rope around his ribs begging him in. If he were a few more drinks deep, maybe he’d give. Tonight, though, he only feels for what he stands to lose.
“I don’t shack up with cowboys."
A coyote howls in the distance. Fuma reaches out and brushes a stray lock of Yudai’s hair from his face, but he doesn’t linger longer than he needs to. It’s still enough to have Yudai shivering.
“Somebody break your heart?” Fuma asks, voice low.
“If they did, do you really think you’d be the one to put it back together?”
(OR: Yudai swears he'll never fall in love with a cowboy. Fuma proves him wrong.)

Summary
They all have their reasons for doing this.
For Joe, it’s the inherent drive to meet injustice head on—the same reason his heart called him to Jerusalem almost eight and a half centuries ago. Joe can’t run from a fight, not when innocent people are involved. For Nicky, it’s because he knows firsthand what men like this can do—the destruction they can cause when left unchecked as he once was. He’s not about to let fascism win, especially not here at home.
For Booker, it’s personal.
It’s his people being packed into the ghettos and crammed into train cars. It’s his people being sent to camps built specifically to eliminate them. It’s his people, his community, his faith, and Booker refuses to stand by for even a single second.
In the wake of Nazi Germany’s attempted extermination of the Jewish people, Booker takes matters into his own hands. But, after a high-stakes mission leads to unintended consequences, he’s left to pick up the pieces. Joe and Nicky are there every step of the way.
