    Summary

Uncle Gwayne leaves Oldtown, and over the course of many months, Ormund exchanges more letters with him than Daeron has ever exchanged with his own mother. He cannot imagine what they have to say, as they rarely saw eye to eye, and Ormund oft used Gwayne as a proverbial scratching post more often than not.

He does not think that his cousin and uncle have ever been apart this long in their entire lives, so perhaps they do not know how to not talk.

Daeron wonders if Gwayne is happy out there in the world, free at last.

...and he wonders if Ormund resents that.

Ormund glanced at them with a disapproving frown. Gwayne held his breath as the other tapped his fingers against the counter edge, jaw tightening as he took in words typed across the top of them. “What are these?” He hissed.

Swallowing around the tightness in his throat, Gwayne explained. “I’m presenting you with a choice. These,” he motioned to the papers on the left, “are permission slips for that trip to Braavos Daeron told us about.” His belly was doing flips as he nervously watched on for Ormond’s reaction.

Nostrils flared, Ormond shifted his shoulders back and jutted his chin up. “Let me guess. You want me to sign them?”

He pondered for a moment if that was what he wanted, before nodding. “Sign them and while Daeron is away, you and I will go to couples therapy and work out our problems. If you don’t, you can sign these instead.” He slid the papers on the right closer to Ormond. “Divorce papers.”

    Summary

“You are wasting your time," Ormund said. He didn't raise his voice; he simply let it drop down the stone walls like cold water. "And the guard's time. And the blacksmith's steel."

Gwayne’s face flushed red with heat and humiliation. "I’m going to be a knight. My father said I could train."

"Your father indulges you because he finds your stubbornness amusing," Ormund replied smoothly. "He knows what you are, even if you refuse to accept it.”

"The Seven haven't said a word to me," Gwayne spat, wiping his nose on his sleeve. "And unless they sent you down here to hold a shield, I suggest you take your little silver egg back inside before the mud ruins your slippers."

    Summary

Shane Hollander is a freshly graduated assistant for the Security Service in London with a dossier full of grisly crime scene photos, and a less-than-professional fascination with a case he’s not even supposed to be a part of.

Ilya Rozanov is the hired gun for the shadowy figure that looms over his father's shoulder. An asset built for discretion, precision, and obedience, who keeps failing at the part where he has to forget about his own morality.

They were not supposed to meet like this.

And they were definitely not supposed to remember each other.

    Summary

“What the fuck, Ilya? You’re a fucking serial killer.” He backs up into the bedroom slowly, the way you’d retreat from a raging bear, until his back hits the sliding glass door, cool against the broad span of his shoulder blades.

Ilya tuts, a feral look in his eyes, “Not a serial killer, a spree killer. You should know this, Hollander. Is it not your job to catch men like me? Or are you too busy turning a blind eye to the abusive assholes you work with, too busy covering up their crimes?”

What’s the difference between a cottage and a cabin? The amount of spree killers present, apparently. Shane’s place has quickly gone from quaint lakeside cottage to a nightmare cabin in the woods.

It doesn’t help that the killer happens to be the man Shane loves, or that his chances of survival are dwindling by the minute. Turns out, red flags just look like ordinary flags when you’re wearing rose-coloured glasses, though one would think a homicide detective would be able to sense when he's being stalked.
