She lowers her bowl from her mouth, eyes lifting to appraise him over its rim. She says nothing.

Gorgug thought about artificer classes, forms signed back and forth with the changes on his transcript, multiclassing slotting into his identity where there hadn't been a space left for it on the page. He thought about streaks of white in his hair and crows feet by his eyes, changes to the face looking back at him in the mirror, growth spurts and tusks and the heft of an axe in hands that had used to draw pictures of flowers. He thought about dying and coming back to life and knowing nothing would ever be the same.
