The stadium roared like a wounded beast. People were screaming at the top of their lungs, thousands of voices combined in an illegible cacophony, disorienting and uncanny. Luka came to a sudden stop and tightly squeezed his eyes. The stakes for this torturous match ran higher than ever and the unbearable noise briefly stunned him. Adrenaline coursing through his system shot up, finally pushing him over the thin edge he balanced on for months.

He didn't like guilty glances he stole in the changing rooms or showers, or how sometimes he had to slip away from hugs on the pitch to avoid embarrassing himself. He didn't like how he had to switch from his previous massage therapist because he was too handsome, or that particular knowing look his mother wore when he was introduced to young and beautiful women in front of her.

“Knock-knock,” the monster stated cheerfully, rocking on his feet and shooting a sly glance in the door’s direction. His absurdly long hands were crossed behind his back, as if he was holding something. Vladimir stood there for a solid minute, not quite believing his ears.

He stops three feet, four inches away from Hank. He looks the same as he always has, which isn’t surprising. Part of Connor thinks the whole world should seem different now that he’s deviant. He was too distracted, too overwhelmed to think about it when he saw him in the CyberLife warehouse, but now he finds it somewhat surprising that Hank is the same.
Of course, it’s not the world or Hank that’ve changed. Just Connor.
