Summary
Sirius often blurs the lines between right and wrong — life built in greyscale, he finds himself in a daze, a frenzy to grapple at his own sense of self. There is a lot to be learnt, the more you detach yourself from prejudice and the 1970s gives young boys lots to think about between cigarettes and kisses in the dark. Sirius knows so much and yet nothing at all. You can choose who you are, but not where you come from. He tries his best to learn the difference between the two.
Accompanied by a typewriter and a loud mouth, Sirius realises a young mind and an eager hand can do more than he expected. Sirius doesn’t know much about being a politician — not that he cares, he never wanted to follow the lead of anyone else anyways. Or, because no one has ever asked for Sirius’ side of the story.
Arcanum Academy of Excellence had not changed much in the hundreds of years it had existed; Sirius Black was set to change that. Maybe he would change with it.

“Oh, holy shit,” Remus huffed a laugh, hand going through his hair as his mouth fell slightly agape. “Shit. You are the Sirius? As in Reg’s brother, Sirius?” His eyes flickered across Sirius’ face.
“I do see the resemblance,” Remus leaned in, back out, turned to the picture and then nodded slowly. “Yeah, yeah... how did I miss that before?”
“Though, I’m certainly better looking, aren’t I?” Sirius joked, a smile plastered on his face.
“Have you seen your brother, mate? He’s like a renaissance painting come to life. You on the other hand…” His eyes wandered down the length of Sirius. He waved his hand around as he spoke, pointing at the entirety of Sirius’ person “Bit more like a wanna be Rock’n’Roll star that just rolled out of bed, running late to his gig at the local pub,”
OR
After his last dogsitter left some emotional scars and entirely broke his trust, Sirius has had a hard time finding a new one. Though, now that James' and his roadtrip was approaching, he really needed to find a dogsitter. Like Yetsreday.
Lucky for him, Remus Lupin has just recently re-opened his dogsitting business.

Summary
Remus has endured three years of his behavior. He’d be willing to accept it, deal with it, make peace with the idea of Sirius as a town asshole. Every town has one - they ride loud motorcycles in the middle of the night and spend one too many hours at the town's dive bar.
But Sirius isn’t an asshole, at least to anyone who isn’t named Remus. Sirius holds doors open for little old ladies, he volunteers at local organizations, he mows and rakes and weeds people's yards out of the goodness of his heart. He lives and bleeds for the town of Godric’s Hollow - knows everyone and their children by name and greets them as if they’ve been best friends for years.
Remus would call it performative if he hadn’t been witness to it many times, Sirius Black and his charm and his inability to resist helping someone.
The dick.

After James and Lily died, Sirius Black's therapist told him not to date for a year. And that's just as well. He's got a 13-month-old baby now and quite enough to deal with, thanks. But the nosy neighbors in his building keep trying to set him up and won't take no for an answer. Enter Remus Lupin, another single dad who pretends to be Sirius's boyfriend, just to get the old lady brigade off his back and nothing more. Nothing more at all.
