Al igual que como había sido con Padre, Leonardo los conocía como la palma de su hermano. Sabía lo que Michelangelo pensaba aunque no lo expresara por completo. Viendo el menor confirmada su convicción ante la comprensión que se hizo evidente en los ojos ámbar de Leonardo.
“Es algo bueno que los cuatro estemos juntos”, respondió Leonardo, “Así, al menos uno de nosotros podrá evitar que el grandulón cometa alguna tontería”

No importa cuanto tiempo pase, no importa qué tanto cambien, o qué tanto sus hermanos crezcan, convirtiéndose en los maravillosos adultos que están destinados a ser, cada vez que Raphael los observa, cada vez que encuentra aquel brillo pícaro y juguetón que era tan común en ellos cuando pequeños, expresiones aun presentes en rostros que han perdido aquellas características infantiles que Raphael recordaba a la perfección, mostrándose en aquel punto entre la adolescencia y la futura adultez, el mayor aun podía ver a esas tortuguitas, tan frágiles, tan pequeñas, a las cuales había jurado proteger. Por las cuales, daría su vida sin dudar.
No importando que tanto tiempo pase, para él, Donatello, Leonardo y Michelangelo siempre serán sus pequeños hermanitos.

But the most important rule was the first he had learned long ago, after paying the high price for his mistake.
And that rule was to never talk about Mother with the humans.

For him, it all began thousands of years ago with the appearance of feelings and emotions. The vague memory of feeling appreciated, treasured.
Or maybe it all began with the image of an old man with gentle appearance and a concerned expression, who told him with a deep voice, that he just needed to wait here. That he would be safe here.
But in reality, Clive's life began when the sea remembered him, bringing with it the answer to all his prayers, the thing he had longed for all his life.
“But you are real, and you are here. On my island. With me”, he said, touching the other man, proving to himself that he was real, tangible. That he was there, with him.

Summary
Mikey will never forget those horrible minutes after the portal closed, after Leo’s comms went dead, when he had wondered if he would ever hear his brother’s voice again. When he wondered what, exactly, his last words to Leo had been—they almost certainly weren’t I love you or please don’t leave so they didn’t count.
To make up for it, he wanted to tell Leo everything every chance he got. He wanted to make him laugh all the time. He wanted to crowd into the little twin-size infirmary bed to watch movies or do art projects that got glitter everywhere. He wanted to sneak out for smoothies even though it would get them in big trouble, because that was literally why he helped save the world in the first place.

When Leo imagined himself getting captured by some kind of shady, quasi-governmental agency intent on imprisoning mutants, it was never anything like this.
When he let his mind go there, he always pictured that he would be strapped to a table. Maybe muzzled. That scientists would stand over him, scalpels and drills in hand, and start to take him apart. That they'd examine him piece by piece, and wouldn't give him any anesthesia while they did it.
But there is no table, no muzzle, no restraints at all. He's just in a room.

The process of healing is not easy, and sometimes despite one’s best efforts it feels like climbing up a mountain of sand, getting so close before the ground gives out and sends you tumbling back down.
