Summary
Nakajima Atsushi is starving and done with the apocalypse. He’s seen terrible things, but nothing prepared him for a man singing and dancing in the ruins of civilization like he’s in a Broadway musical.
That should’ve been his cue to run.
But now the zombies are coming, and apparently this crazy person might be his only escape...
Or.
“Wait,” Dazai said casually, as he followed Atsushi, “there’s a horde coming from the east. You’ll run straight into them.”
Atsushi stopped and glanced over his shoulder with narrowed eyes. “How do you know that?”
“Because I let them out of a prison building.” Dazai shrugged.
Atsushi could do nothing but stare at him in pure shock.
“You did what?!”
“I needed a distraction…” The brunet spread his arms, “…or company… It’s hard to tell sometimes which one I need more these days.”
“Why would you… what the fuck is wrong with you?!” Atsushi pulled on his hair, frustrated.
“They were bored,” Dazai whined like a child, “I was bored.”
Atsushi stared at him, wide-eyed.
Dazai wasn’t bothered by this at all, as Atsushi saw, because the next moment his lips curved into a wicked smile, “…but now I have you, so I don’t need them.”

He’s thought about it before. If he just reached inside, dug his hands in and pulled on the fringes of the collective unconscious, he could bring Akechi back. Could even bring back Isshiki Wakaba, Okumura Kunikazu, and the rest of them if he felt so inclined. He knows he could even if he’s never tried, the power pulsing through his blood, making his fingers twitch. It wouldn’t even be particularly hard. And it wouldn’t have to stop there; if Yaldabaoth could manipulate the masses and Maruki could alter reality to his whim, Akira could do any of those things, and more.
(Turns out, shooting a couple gods in the face makes you something of a god yourself.)

“Chuuya.” Dazai says, in a way that makes Chuuya think Dazai has said his name once already.
“Dazai.” He responds. When he looks up, he accidentally focuses on Dazai’s mouth, the deep raw color of the bruise growing on his cheek. Chuuya blinks, rocks on his feet, looks away.
“I said did you kill them?” Dazai asks after a long pause. His voice is uncomfortably even.
Chuuya looks at Dazai and the violence in his eyes shakes him to his core. His stomach floods with want. His toes curl in his shoes.
Chuuya nods, a jerk of his head. His ribs ache. Dazai evaluates him.
“We need to go.” Dazai says.
I am afraid of the power you hold over me, Chuuya thinks and says—
“Yeah.”
Dazai steps on a body when they leave, eyes trained elsewhere. It makes a sound like ice cracking.
Dazai doesn’t look down.
The palms of Chuuya’s hands itch.

Dazai finds an angel dressed in a Sailor Venus outfit on a high-rise rooftop in Yokohama.
“You’re beautiful,” he says to the boy lying face-up in a thick bed of snow. The freezing night air has leeched color from his skin except for the strawberry-red splotching the underside of his exposed limbs and the purple-blue staining his fingertips.
“Would you do me the honor of committing suicide with me?”
Spectacular heterochromia saturates Dazai’s world, and all he can think is, burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow Roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars.
His angel with firework eyes shrugs thin shoulders, all bone white and blue like a bruised moon, and wearily sighs,
“Yeah, sure. Why not?”
OR
Dazai and Atsushi meet, dance, rob a department store, and jump off the bridge together. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Atsushi says, apropos of nothing, "I don't need a babysitter."
Dazai considers this and decides to respond with all the dignity such an accusation deserves. He slumps forward, half over the steering wheel, and nearly sends them into on-coming traffic. "Wow!" he moans, "Break my heart, why don't you, Atsushi-kun! A babysitter," he repeats, mournfully. "Is that what you think I am?"
Atsushi braces himself with both hands against the dashboard, but otherwise ignores him. He continues, "I made a mistake."
All things considered, this is a bit of an understatement.
In which, Dazai misses the point, Atsushi is put on medical leave, and there's only one bed.

He was mostly alone. It was only natural by such cool weather, so late in the evening. Maybe he should have followed the other peoples example or at least put something warmer on than his usual clothes, especially in the russian winter. The only thing lighting him the way, were the golden shines of street lamps. It was a way he didn’t think he would ever go. Over the time of his live Dazai Osamu had killed many and hasn’t visited any of their graves. But he wasn’t anyone.

Summary
Their relationship is fine as it is. They work together, they fuck, they work together again like Dazai wasn’t moaning his name mere hours ago, rinse and repeat. That’s it. Staying in the morning, no matter how convenient it would be, might do more harm than good.
“Ranpo-san, Dazai-san! The usual?”
Alright, and occasionally, they also hang out outside the Agency and the bed, but just like the sex they have on a regular basis doesn’t make them a couple, spending time together doesn’t make this a date. The fact that they come here often enough the barista recognizes them only serves as proof of that. These aren’t dates. They’re treats for solving yet another case and saving the day from crime and corruption, yes.
