"Will I be presented to the tsar right now?" he asked.
"To the entire royal family."
"Are you sure that such a rush is necessary?" he asked carefully. "I would not like to interrupt His Majesty's schedule."
He chose his words thoroughly, without wanting to insult General Kaminsky or give the impression that he was doubting his authority. He just made a good impression and did not want to spoil it. The general did not seem to be one of those people who willingly gave a second chance.
Yet all the previous generals, no matter what line of action they had chosen in relation to Aleksander, had concurred that tsar should have been prepared for a meeting with a Shadow Summoner. Aleksander himself would have done the same.
Kaminsky stopped, making the others to do the same, and looked at Aleksander. It was difficult to get anything from his emotionless face but the faces of others gave away their surprise and a bit of suspicion. Something about Aleksander's reaction seemed weird to all of them but he could not figure out what was that.
"The tsaritsa will want to meet you as soon as possible."

"Alexei!" She screamed again staring into the darkness. She saw his silhouette moving away from the Ultralight and knew that it was useless to shout. Even if he had somehow heard her in that noise he would not have came back.
She turned around. The skiff was badly damaged by fire and the Volcra attack. The pleased shouts of the monsters and the screams of horror of their victims merged into a disgusting noise from which she wanted to run as far as possible. A few people were still trying to fight back but Alina did not know what could be counter to this sort of abomination.
She looked at Alexei running away again. He had escaped from the burning skiff infested with Volcra but she could not bear the thought of him being left alone in the land of monsters.
She climbed over the remains of the railing and jumped into the cold ashes. Without glancing back she ran after Alexei.
