Ron’s eyes, impossibly, narrow even further, and he scoffs, throwing his arms up in frustration. “I don’t want your help! I don’t want anything to do with you!”
“Why?” He says, exasperated.
“Because all you and your group do is ruin things, Carl! Everything was fine before you got here! And you just…” Ron trails off, eyes flicking all over Carl’s face, and for some reason, Carl holds his breath, thinking breathing might scare his gaze away. “I shouldn’t,” he speaks again, finally, and Carl breathes. “I shouldn’t want anything to do with you.”

When Carl came home from school there was still no text from Ron, which was odd, considering he didn’t show up to school that day either. And what kind of boyfriend would Carl be if he didn’t go try to at least check on him?
He was going to just make some excuse to his dad, but Rick knew how shitty Ron’s home life was, and even if the two didn’t exactly see eye to eye Carl knew Rick didn’t want anything worse to happen to him, which is why he stayed over a lot in the first place.
OR
Ron is sick and Carl takes care of him, they end up taking care of each other and say their first I love you’s.
