Summary
The sheep of Waldemere have noticed something suspicious about the old side gate.
Phillip always checks the lane before opening it. Phineas keeps making him blush beside it. Whenever the two men disappear through it, they come back happier and smelling of crushed grass.
Maud intends to get to the bottom of this.
Or: the flock misunderstands human romance, discovers the importance of privacy, and accidentally becomes very useful.

Summary
Phillip was not left untouched by the fire. Years later, he and Phineas have traded the circus for a cottage in the countryside, where the air is kinder to Phillip’s damaged lungs. The life they build is full of books, bees, flowers, and an astonishing amount of kissing in fields.
But old injuries do not vanish just because the scenery improves, and neither do the lessons men like them were taught about what love is allowed to be.
Or: the post-canon cottagecore retirement fic nobody asked for.
