Ryland Grace had saved the stars.
He had saved the stars, made a best friend for life, and made a home for himself on Erid.
But of course old problems had to come back to haunt him, and new ones had to continue to reach him in the depths of space.
After all, what is life without an extra curve-ball or two? Like complications from a coma? Or a human they dragged out of space? Or the feelings that arise as a result of his new roommate? Between his ever-inconsistent sleepiness and new, confusing feelings, he’s got his work cut out for him.

Hello Friends! Welcome to my first fic of me playing with my dolls and giving Grace my NT1 problems among other things. I have not written fan fiction in at least 8 or 9 years, so constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!
I hope you all enjoy, and I would like to preface by saying that I do NOT represent NT1 as a whole, nor does the fiction and the symptoms listed- everyone is different and has symptoms present differently or not at all. Tags will be updated as the work progresses!

Summary
Simon narrowly drags himself out of the blood ocean, onto a white space ship floating on the surface. It makes no sense. How is this thing here? Where are all the people? How is he even alive?
How are there stars in the sky?
He barely understands anything in this ship, but he can faintly make out that it was made for a very important project, a mission that is life-or-death.
And for a man that just narrowly escaped another life-or-death mission, he was not a fan of the premonition that he's going to have to take up this project himself.
Until he heard muffled crying from a hidden corner of the ship.
It's... a child.
Oh no.

Or, Simon has to complete the Project Hail Mary mission after he finds the ship with only a glasses-wearing blond child inside. Why a child is alone here is a big question. The weird not-glass panes sectioning off half of the ship is another big question. The stress builds up to the point he almost doesn't notice somrthing else sneaking around inside with them. Simon is definitely not qualified for this shit.

"You are also familiar with NASA" he felt a sudden, hot, indignant rage. "Unfortunately", he bit out, and for the first time since they met Stratt's expression softened. "I'm sorry about what happened to your husband", she said. He did not want to talk about this today. Maybe ever. "I bet you are, you guys sent him up there", he muttered, fiddling with the bike lock. "I don't work for NASA", she said matter-of-fact "It was unprecedented. NASA doesn't make a habit of losing an entire ship".
After five years together, Simon goes missing. Grace thinks he'll never see him again, that he'll never know what happened. On their way to Erid, Grace finds answers.

“Okay,” Simon said cautiously. “What are you… gonna do? To my, uh, extra mouth?”

Grace tries to curb his scientific fascination with the other human's mutations, especially considering Simon’s silence and distance. However, when he finally gets a chance to study Simon, Grace learns how bodies crave other bodies even when our brains try to tell us a different story.
