“Bucky—“ Joaquin starts. “Er— I mean… Sargent Barnes? Senator? Whatever, just listen. He isn’t conscious yet, and—“
“I just want to check on him,” Bucky says, “He doesn’t have to be awake for me to see if he’s okay.”
“Well— yeah,” Joaquin says. “But listen, he’s— he’s different.”
And this, finally, has Bucky stop in his tracks, in the middle of a sterile corridor with painfully bright fluorescents humming overhead.
“Different?” Bucky repeats. “Different how?”
“They did things to him,” Joaquin says. He’ll hardly meet his eyes. “He- He was awake, sort of, when we found him. And he wasn’t— I mean, he wasn’t not Sam, but he was… wrong. In shock, maybe, but they did things to him, experiments, and—“
And maybe Joaquin thought this would make Bucky hesitate. Maybe he thought Bucky would listen more once he heard the gravity of the situation.
Instead, Bucky sets off in a run.

Or rather, that fic where Sam Wilson gets actual wings after being captured and experimented on, and Bucky Barnes is there to help him learn how to live again.

Summary
After being caught in an explosion, Starscream awakens in the Nemesis medbay with memories of another life—one spent as an organic on a primitive planet, hopelessly addicted to an otome fan game called Spark of the Nemesis: Love Among the Decepticons.
Unfortunately, he remembers exactly who he is in the game.
Starscream is not a romance option. He is the universally despised villain whose fate, regardless of whether Optimus Prime romances Megatron, Soundwave, Knockout, or Dreadwing, always ends in exile, torture, or an exceptionally creative death.
Determined to survive, Starscream begins desperately altering the plot before Optimus is captured and the game officially begins. His safest choice should be the Neutral Route—even if it ends with him becoming a pampered collectible in Quintessa’s private collection.
But Starscream’s increasingly strange behavior catches Shockwave’s attention, disrupts every known romance route, and accidentally unlocks several secret ones involving Predaking, Tarn, Optimus Prime…and perhaps even Shockwave himself.
Starscream wanted to escape his doom flags.
