Summary
Filling a big, glaring plot hole because unnecessary sad calls for a fix-it.
Chapter 1 started as a "One and Done" commentary AU, then characters got talkative, as they always do. Besides, given a chance, Marcus can talk himself out of any corner.
Update 2026: There are multiple prior stories with the fix-it of Marcus doesn't have to die to save Susan. Which I mentioned in comments to this in 2022 but realized I should also say that in this summary. What I didn't get from a previous fanfic was identifying a specific plot-hole that other characters could use to prevent the unnecessary sad.

Summary
When Anna (rescued) first met Delenn, she told her, "John loves us both. We both know this." Saying and believing are two different things. Future chapters will take the thread further, some beyond the last scene of the parent story.
13 May 2026 update: There’s a private as well as a public “Endgame” for John when he returns to Earth at the end of Clark’s rule. A lot happens in chapter 7 (now posted) and 8, which fill in between the lines and scenes of the Endgame chapter of To Have and to Hold. Previously, chapters have been short. The 7th and any future chapters will have many scenes each.
This is a sidebar. Despite the title, I wanted "To Have and to Hold" to have a balance between politics and relationship scenes to have better pacing. There were several relationship and some war scenes that I knew about but didn't include in the main work. This story emphasizes relationships. Some scenes (marked by ▼) from HH are partially repeated to provide context.

Summary
This is one of my earliest fanfics, the story of John and Anna Sheridan during the Earth-Minbari War. What jms called a “typo” was the foundation a Blackstar gapfiller I was writing during third season of B5, mostly based on dialog from season two. The complicated battle scene I wrote, with a lot of help, became an AU with the broadcast of “In the Beginning.” It is a mixture of romance and war story, and how the characters tried to survive a hopeless situation, both on the home front, and in space.
25f26: tweaked and moved my acknowledgements and author notes to an afterword.

The troops filed in again, solemn. Garibaldi stood up, trying to sound cheerful. This was something many people wanted. ... "Do you know what's coming?"
From the back someone called, "Fleet's moving out."
"Right. Tomorrow. The League part of the fleet will be commanded by Captain ..." and he spread his hands so everyone said it at once.
" ... Ivanova."He nodded. "Yeah, that's weird." There was a low buzz of comment, not necessarily said to the person next. He let people get used to it for a bit before continuing. "And sad. Life sucks right now."
This sad AU is the alternate sequel to "By Way of Proposal", to follow up on the dialog suggestion that if Sheridan was killed someone else would take his place in the fight against shadows and to regain Earth.

Summary
Alternate universe fic where Sophie Ivanova never died, Susan developed telepathy as a teen and joined the Corps, and Susan then went to the same Psi Corps high school as Talia.
Now they're in their senior year (last year of school, age 18/19), during the Battle of the Line. With the Minbari about to kill everyone, Susan confesses her feelings for Talia.
This work is NOT part of the Behind the Gloves series - it is entirely AU. I don't typically write AUs, but I thought I should give fandom my version of a happy ending for these two.

This is a good thread of gapfill Lochley and Garibaldi scenes that follows their thread through season 5. Much evocative and spot-on description. I don't like fifth season so I had to go to the wiki to review in order to follow this better. I have never accepted Lochley as John's first wife, so Lochley's several ex-husband comments make me squirm, but that probably my own baggage. I really like the Lochley & Garibaldi banter -- I have a new appreciation for why he's so good at his job (when drink hasn't sidelined him).
