Roy was having a relaxing evening at home, scrolling through the latest news reports on his phone. Lian was asleep, and it was just after midnight when a familiar ringing coming from his bedside table broke him out of the sleepy haze he was in. Roy reached across for the drawer, yanking it open and grabbing the extra phone. Frowning at the old flip phone he’d used during his early vigilante days, he checked to see who would possibly call this number over his new ones.
Robin calling…
Roy pressed the call button, feeling confused and irritated. Dick better not be calling drunk from some bar with Wally needing a ride.
“Hello?” He greeted grumpily into the phone.
There was a small gasp that sounded surprised before a young boy spoke, uncertainty and fear colouring his voice. “Sp-Speedy? Is that you?”
Blinking in shock at the old nickname and the familiar sound of one of his best friend’s voices that was much too young to make sense at this time of night, all Roy could respond with was “Robin?!”

“There isn’t going to be a next time,” Remus said, pulling on his robe then cloak, and doing up the buttons.
“What?” Both the question and the sincerity of it escaped Severus before he could think better of them. Heat and shame rose to his cheeks as he heard how it sounded, even as the burgundy crushed velvet hanging all along the walls—eaten through in places and giving the effect what went on in the room was watched by hundreds of black, glittering eyes—swallowed the impact of his words. It wasn’t a question so much a fervent denial of what Severus clearly hoped he misheard.
“I’m seeing someone.” Remus said it casually as he finished buttoning his cloak. He looked around Severus where he stood in front of the vanity mirror to fix his hair. “It was fun though. While it lasted.” Remus finished with his hair, didn’t meet Severus’ gaze, refused to look at the expression on his face, turned, and left the boudoir.
