He presented him with the origami in his hands, cradled like it was something precious.
“It’s a crane.”
“It’s beautiful.”
“Yes, it is.”
Their eyes met, and something hung heavy in the air. Ramy spoke again, his voice tender and oh-so vulnerable. “Robin, are you going to give one to the girls too?”
He opened his mouth to speak but thought better of it. It seemed the logical thing to do, to give one to the girls as a token of friendship, but as Ramy’s gaze burned his skin, he got the impression that this was not the answer that Ramy wanted.
“No. No, I’m not.”

Set during the ball, ft. some Chinese phrases that came to mind, and a generous amount of unresolved tension (turned into somewhat resolved tension.) Slight canon divergence, because that one scene deserved so much more than getting interrupted by everything else in the world.

Summary
He was covered in Robin's blood and tears. He wanted to hunt down whoever did this to him. He would make them pay. Didn't they know how important Birdie was, how he must not get destroyed by any means?

But Ramy knew. Ramy was looking at him with his sharp brown eyes and Robin knew that Ramy knew, that he understood all the thoughts and feelings Robin couldn't articulate.
Any longer and Robin would combust if Ramy kept looking at him like this, so he looked back out at Oxford and tried to move the conversation swiftly on.
However, he didn't really expect 'Letty's in love with you.' to tumble out of his mouth with the grace of a giraffe on rollerskates.
