Summary
For the first time in Harry's life, his puppet strings had been cut, but Harry couldn’t remember how to act like a human being.
But he moved on, and he lived with a burden on his shoulders. He lived a good life, and he had good relationships.
He was happy, and his only regret came back to him every night in the form of a repetitive dream that he learnt to live with.
But one day, it wasn't a dream anymore, and Harry found himself back at Hogwarts. His wish had somehow came true, and Harry didn't really know if it was real or not.

"Professor McGonagall, Harry is at it again!"
"Oh god, what is it this time, Mister Weasley?"
"He is drinking tea with Malfoy by the lake after traumatising Professor Snape with food! Also, he gave me a handful of Lemon Drops. He is having tea with the Headmaster next and refused to help the Quitditch team because his knees hurt."
"Goddamnit!"

Severus Snape was resting his cheek on the table at the faculty meeting. The hateful glare he sent the headmaster's way was only emphasized by the dark shadows under his eyes. "Albus," he said. "I don't care what the board is blackmailing you with. This is hell."
Dumbledore surveyed the roomful of teachers and found not a single person who disagreed.
"I'm sorry, everyone," was his solemn reply, "but the babies are a mandatory project."
(You know that old trope in American teen dramas where they give them the fake baby to raise for home-ec? Yeah.)

“No post on Sundays” Uncle Vernon announced happily, “No damn letters today-”
Something came whizzing down the kitchen chimney as he spoke and caught him sharply on the back of the head. The next moment, thirty or forty letters came pelting out of the fireplace like bullets.
“That does it!” he snapped, his beady little eyes focused solely on Harry, “It’s you that they want. And they won’t stop coming after us until you’re… gone”.
Harry didn't like the sound of that.
“But Vernon, we can’t! You heard what that- that despicable old man told us!”
“Don’t worry, pet” Vernon said, his nasty grin triumphant, “I’ll leave him someplace so far away that those freaks will never trace him back to us. There’s an institute up north, for these- these hopeless cases and whatnot - St Brutus's Secure Centre for Boys. I’ll leave him there, and then we can get back to our nice, normal life”.Or, the one where Harry doesn't attend Hogwarts in first year but finds his way to the wizarding world anyway, and this changes everything.
