Summary
The boy blinks at him, wide-eyed. mouth falling open slightly to reveal the pearly tips of straight, even teeth. His lower lip looks soft enough to bite. Ilya crowds in closer.
“Um. Hi.”
Throat bobbing, the boy’s gaze flickers over Ilya, like he can’t decide where to look. He’s got the biggest, softest eyes Ilya’s ever seen, wide and doe-like and a little frantic with some kind of ignited prey instinct. The tips of the boy’s ears have gone pink. He’s not small, by any means, all solid muscle, but he seems to curl in on himself almost instinctually. It makes Ilya feel a little crazy, seeing this rock of a man turn to something small and shuddering the closer Ilya comes.
“All alone?”
Stiltedly, the boy shakes his head. “No. My friends…” He looks somewhere behind Ilya and scowls. “They were over there.”
“Ah. And they left the pretty boy all alone for me to find?” Ilya shakes his head mournfully.

Shane, in general, was one of the most responsible people he knew in his own life. All his life, he’d been the responsible one and he liked that – he liked being dependable, even if he hated how much pressure was put on him by his team and his mom and the league and the world. He liked the level of control that responsibility gave him.
So he had no idea why he was so insulted by the idea of Ilya being responsible and fucking him with a condom on.

Summary
Svetlana was going to love Shane. She could tell immediately. She had never in her life believed in love at first sight, but she considered herself a good judge of character, and she had strong opinions on basically everything. Very rarely was her first impression wrong, and her first impression of Shane Hollander told her that he was going to be very, very important to her in the not-so-distant future.

Svetlana learns that Jane is Shane Hollander at the start of the 2017-2018 hockey season. She immediately decides that she and Shane are going to be friends. After all, Ilya is her best friend, and Shane is love of her best friend's life; it just makes sense to be his friend, too. She's pretty sure that's how it works.
Over the following years, she gets a few opportunities to solidify that friendship, and help both Shane and Ilya feel a little less lonely.
