Failure. It’s not something Kuroo’s familiar with really--he’s failed, but never this bad It’s not like he’s the smartest, or most athletic, or the most popular but he’s always been smart enough, athletic enough, and popular enough. But university is a whole different issue to deal with. It’s taught him nothing but failure. Sure, Kuroo made it onto the university volleyball team--only to be benched, he got a scholarship for his chemistry degree--but he fucking hates it, and romance…well…he’s not as straight as he thought he was. Causing a lot of turmoil in his dating life.
Alternatively: Kuroo comes home after his first semester of uni and has big feelings.
