And as Parrot watched as zombies flooded the streets, streets that he had been on before, streets he was familiar with, he thought, "This is not happening." Parrot stared at the TV screen, willing for it to all be some big joke or some elaborate ruse. Maybe if he tried, he could just think of it as a horror movie. A really ambitious video project. Some really impressive editing, acting, and CGI.
But no—this was real, and it was happening right now, somewhere not even that far away from him. Parrot felt sick to his stomach.
“Well. I wasn’t expecting this to happen so soon.”

Summary
He slowly lifted the window and was halfway through when suddenly, the lights in his room flooded on, and Wemmbu froze like a deer caught in the headlights. At once, he is keenly aware of how much he looked like a burglar, with one of his legs swung over the window, his other leg propped out on the window sill, and his head half peeking out from behind the curtain.
As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw his roommate and best friend standing at the door with a baseball bat, one hand poised over the light switch. Egg was staring at him with a tired expression, his head wings fluttering slightly, and Wemmbu stared back.
“Oh, hey Egg.”
“Yo."

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”
