Summary
Genesis' legs are numb and heavy as lead as he sits on the plush leather arm chair that is placed in front of his fathers desk. He swallows down the lump in his throat and puts on his best nonchalant mask. He doesn't want his father to see him squirm lest he hone in on it.
“As you know, you have just reached your twentieth birthday last month,” his father began, then paused for dramatic effect and to give him a disapproving look. Before Genesis can retort, he continues, “I have been in contact with a prominent family located in Midgar. They own countless businesses, including Shinra Electrical Company, and are interested in making a heavy donation in my next run for office. In order to cement our relationship, you are to mate their only Alpha son by this time next year.” His words are like a gavel that sealed Genesis’ fate, similar to that of a prison sentence.
