Summary
Her dad is dead and Katie lives in a field. Despite this she has her brothers and her sister and she has Esme. They dance in the embers and run through the tall grass with their cousins, and Katie will never not be an orphan. The stars are twice as bright as usual.
-
"Esme looks at her, and Katie is 6 years old again, standing on the landing in a wet nightdress.
And Esme knows what she really means is ‘We aren’t your kids. You don’t have to look after us’.
Back then, Esme had changed the sheets with no complaints and made sure she was changed and dried before tucking her and the boys back in and now she laughs, loud and harsh in the morning chill." -

Summary
Ginny is twelve years old. She panics when she forgets things and will probably never keep a diary again. She wishes her brothers weren't so overbearing and that she had friends. On warm days she sits out by the lake and studies hexes. There's no one in her head but her.
Alternatively, a universe that doesn't forget about Ginny Weasley.

Summary
Samira Mohan’s life is divided cleanly into two distinct halves: before PittFest and after it. She will never again be the person she was when she clocked in for that shift. She will never forget the give of her patient’s skull beneath an EZ-IO or the slip of the pigtail catheter between her fingers. Even months later, she’s still struggling to unpack all the ways that day changed her life.
Perhaps the strangest residual effect is that Jack Abbot sort of, inexplicably, becomes her best friend.
---
Or: Samira Mohan finds her way through residency and subsequently stumbles onto a whole lot more.

Summary
“You were in an accident. Please, listen to me. Get back on the bed.”
Dennis stills at that, giving him that same, blank look from before. Robby wants to shut his eyes. He never wants to see it again.
He tilts his head. “Accident?”
“You were—” Robby says, and doesn’t miss the desperation in his own voice. “I just told you. You were in an accident. Don’t you remember?”After an argument about Robby’s resignation from the Pitt, Dennis gets into a car crash that makes him unable to retain short-term memories. Including the fight they just had, and Robby’s imminent departure. It’s up to Robby to nurse him back to health, and choose which truth to tell him.
Or, Dennis gets anterograde amnesia.

Summary
“It’s weird, not having Robby here,” Mel is saying, dragging Samira back into the conversation between the residents. “And Dr Al-Hashimi hasn't shown up either.” That is strange, Samira thinks absently. Dr Bryan is back from semi-retirement to cover as attending, but the absence is noticeable. “I'm sure we can figure out how to be good teachers, but it’s a little harder when you don't have your mentor to help."
“I don’t know,” Samira mutters before she can stop herself, still staring at Dr Abbot’s letter on her screen. “Just do the opposite of whatever Robby would do.”
It’s only in the expanding silence afterward that Samira realizes she has said that it out loud.
In the wreckage left after the 4th of July shift, Samira starts gathering the shattered pieces of her life. The question now is in what order does she want to put them together.

Summary
It’s funny, Mickey doesn’t remember it being quite so…well, loud here.
But not funny in a ‘haha nice joke’ type of way. More, funny in a ‘mildly unsettling’ way.’
Sure, Mickey’s used to sounds and people being assholes and all the rest. What he’s not used to is hearing all that shit and actually being safe.
OR
The Shameless writers did a terrible job of discussing Mickey’s trauma so I’m fixing it because realistically this man should have all the PTSD after the BS Terry, the American prison system, and the fucking Mexican Cartel did to him. Oh, and not to mention the past tension between Ian and Mickey up to Season 10.

Summary
In the dark, Ian turns and stares at Mickey for a moment.
“Do you really not want to have sex with me?”
“No,” Mickey mumbles, a little annoyed by the whiplash of Ian’s talking. “I don’t like it.”
Ian laughs outright at this, his eyes crinkling at the edges gently. Mickey’s learning that he really likes to watch Ian do that.
“That’s not true; everyone likes sex. I just mean - what's wrong with you? Do you just only like women? Is that what it is?”
