Summary
The kingdom of Aldaria has, for centuries now, understood sorcery and magic of all kinds to be nothing but fairytales.
Military bodies, the Adventurers’ Guild, and even the King himself all believe magic to be a dead art— if it ever existed at all.
But in a few pockets of the kingdom and beyond, there are whispers; rumours, that it is real. In a way.
Very, very occasionally, a human child is born with odd features. Colourful nails. Naturally multi-coloured eyes. Elongated ears or teeth. Ridiculously long eyelashes. Glowing freckles. And so much more. Some have many, some have just one. Research is limited on these children; knowledge of their existence is snuffed out just as quickly as their lives.
Supposedly, these children are born to families with a long-dormant magical lineage. Not that it matters; they never last long enough for their existence to be of any scientific interest.
Except, once in a blue moon…One slips through the cracks.
Eventually, anyway.Or: An odd young man from the Capital finds his way to Mistria, after an especially arduous walk. There, he hopes to begin anew.

Summary
The princess has returned from her journey to the Dark Kingdom, but rumors have it that the quest was not as successful as everyone would have liked. Varian hears little of what is going on from his lone prison cell. Then one day, the red rocks burst through the walls, and Varian takes the opportunity to escape.
Rapunzel struggles to solve the problems of the black rocks. When the red rocks suddenly become an issue, she remembers the young alchemist who used to be her friend and realizes he may be able to help. But by the time she goes to look for him, he has already fled and Rapunzel must figure out how to get him back.
Eugene realizes that with Corona in unprecedented danger, it's time for him to step up.
Meanwhile, Cassandra's just trying to find her destiny, which hopefully doesn't involve creating red rocks everywhere she goes.
