Everything had gone quiet.
The end of the world was averted. Satan had crawled back into his hole. The Four Horsemen dissolved back to their respective corners to lick their wounds. Shadwell and Madame Tracey popped onto her little scooter and started for home. Anathema let Newt follow her back to her cottage so they could discuss the future. Adam’s real father had collected the Them and driven them back to their own homes.
Aziraphale and Crowley were left alone.
Together, they learn how to live in semi-retirement while learning how to nurture the love they held for each other for so long, now that they are free to do so. But when Aziraphale begins working on a secret project, Crowley can't help but become suspicious.

When the two of them are finally pushed into standing up for themselves and they don't get the reactions they'd expected, they meet each other as they're trying to run away from everything. They decide to pretend to be boyfriends as Ed agrees to teach Stede all about gay culture, Stede agrees to teach Ed how to be a good person, and together, they learn that there was never much to learn in the first place.
