In hindsight, Leon should’ve known he was fucked the first time he got his hands on you – or rather, in you, that fateful Friday night. Or he should’ve seen it coming when he started to forget his words half a sentence in because you looked too pretty not to stare, or when his head began snapping at the sound of your heels, when his voice cracked with nerves for the first time. Or when yours did, like it does now – stumbling over his name, cutting it in half as if your tongue is a knife. Le-on. He’s obsessed with how you say the ‘o’ so sharply as if startled and sigh the ‘n’ out in bliss.
Maybe he did see it coming. And maybe, for once, he was willing to let something wash over him. But that could scare you off, so Leon decides you don’t need to know – like many other things.
Leon finds a corner of heaven at work and forces himself to keep it just that. He's easy to forgive, even when he edges you until you could cry.

It’s a side of the DSO he’s never given much thought to, if he’s being honest. Most agents complain about the paperwork when they return from a mission, Leon included. It’s just an extra hassle on top of all the other shit you have to do.
“Normally, I’d contact the reporting agent, but the author of this report retired in 2007. So it’s going to take more digging.” You close the folder and return it to its apparent spot in the chaos. “I work on this stuff when I have time. It’s pretty full right now since, well, I don’t have a lot of extra time lately.”

Sitting in the break room with him at lunch, looking over his shoulder at the crossword puzzle he works on at his desk and giving your best shot at an answer, relishing in the furrow of his brows as he turns to look over his shoulder at you. He's an asshole. He's arrogant. But there's something about him that's drawing you in. Sometimes you feel like a fish caught in a net. All those moments he'd brushed you off and yet you find yourself repeating the little quirks of his soft smiles in your head. You hate the term "work husband", but it seems that Edward is slowly becoming the very definition of that.
