In this universe, a person is able to be “gifted” an ability. From the time they are born or when something drastic happens in their life whether it is sad or happy. Most are normal and or questionable but on rare occasions, some are considered a danger to society.
Ash and Eiji get ambushed in an alleyway by Arthur and his dogs. Eiji freaks out whenever he has a close call to death out of instinct he tries to reach out to stop the threat. Nothing could've prepared him for what was gonna happen.

Before he could fully process his own action, Ash reached out, his calloused fingers moved with surprising gentleness, using the back of his knuckles to carefully brush the unruly, fluffy dark hair away from Eiji's forehead, tucking it behind his ear.
Eiji froze slightly, his dark eyelashes fluttering in surprise. He didn't pull away, Instead, as Ash’s hand retreated, Eiji’s gaze locked onto his. The flush on the healer's face deepened.
"Thank you," Eiji said softly, his voice a little lower now. He looked down at the bamboo, his fingers suddenly fumbling slightly with it as he tried to resume working.
