Summary
When Micheal Wheeler opens his eyes again, he is met with the retreating backs of two children on bikes. They laugh and shove each other, yelling about seeing each other tomorrow.
Is this hell?
“It was a 7,” a voice beside him breaks through.
“Huh?” Mike returns before turning towards the young voice.
He is met with the image of a 12 year old Will Byers standing in his parents garage.
Can’t be hell then, is Mike’s first thought.
Before Mike is able to even reconcile the last 10 seconds of his life, Will twists his head and scrunches his nose.
“The roll. It was a seven,” a young Will continues. Mike can do nothing but stare. “The demogorgon, it got me.”
Mike’s mouth opens slightly but nothing else comes out.
What the fuck is going on?

For the first time since they were twelve, nothing is trying to kill them. The Upside Down is gone. Hawkins is quiet. And the Party realizes they’ve never actually gotten to be normal teenagers.

Just one last summer of being teenagers in Hawkins.
But once you’ve spent your whole life surviving the impossible, you learn to recognize when something isn’t right.
Which means that somewhere between the late nights, the laughter, and the slow realization that childhood is slipping through their fingers, the Party might be pulled into one last mystery.
And this time, it might change everything.
OR
Will Byers swears he’s over Him. Mike Wheeler swears he doesn't have feelings for him. One reckless summer in Hawkins proves they might both be very, very wrong.

Summary
Will Byers has spent most of his life on the sidelines.
Ever since he and his twin sister, Jane, presented as a rare male omega and female alpha, Will has lived his days inside a carefully crafted glass prison. In search of better medical care and more open-minded values, Joyce and Jim—their mother and stepfather—moved the entire family to Lenora, California.
Without the familiar bounds of Hawkins and the pack he and Jane grew up with, Will has been drifting. Over the years, the distance between him and his old friends has grown wider and wider, as he continues to struggle with his identity in a world that holds a stubborn, one-sided view of omegas.
With that struggle comes an unfortunate reality: even after four long years of dating, Will still can’t stop pining after his sister’s boyfriend—his childhood best friend—Mike Wheeler.
By now, Will should be used to the feeling of being second best. He isn’t.
When his frustration at feeling stuck in one place finally reaches its breaking point, he decides it’s time to give up and move on.In response, something stirs.

Summary
“I can do that. I will do anything. How can I make you feel good bab—”
Will flinched and pulled Mike’s hair. “No don’t—call me that. A-anything but that.”
Mike nodded and leaned in to place a gentle kiss on Will’s lips.
“Okay, how can I make you feel good, sorcerer?” Mike’s eyebrows were dancing, as Will finally cracked a smile and leaned his forehead against Mike’s.
“Oh my god, I hate you.”
“No you don’t.”
“No—I don’t.”
Or—It had been seven years since the party ended in Mike Wheeler’s basement that night after graduation. He was drowning in a sea of conformity, grasping at the only lifeline that ever made sense to him, his imagination.
He ends up in New York after years of isolation, curious to know if his former best friend still lived in the city. Mike felt completely aimless, until he stumbled upon a gallery, and saw a painting of his younger self hung in an exhibit, a plaque next to the frame reading, “First Love-W.B”.
Mike reacts about as well as you would expect, faced with the reality he’d always been too scared to admit.
He had to find Will, but he wouldn’t find him alone.

Summary
“I mean, honestly, don't you feel a little overwhelmed with it sometimes, Will? He's your paladin in DND, yeah, we get it, but at some point it's a bit...”
Dustin winds his hand in a circle, humming.
“We all got pretty protective of you after the upside down— wanted to do things for you, of course, but.."
He shrugs.
"It's like he just...never turned it off, like he's convinced the moment he looks away or pays attention to anything else, you're gonna vanish.”----------------
Will has never thought his and Mike's admittedly unique friendship was a bad thing, not until a debate between the party about Mike's inclination towards him has him second guessing the entirety of their friendship. With new evidence that Mike has been neglecting El in favor of bending to his every need, Will makes it his mission to fix their problem prone relationship by stepping aside, hopeful to prevent his heart from breaking in the process.
Mike is decidedly not a fan of this new normal that Will has cooked up.
Faced with the idea of losing the person for whom his heart beats, his Will, Mike takes things into his own hands.
