Galinda lifted her hand slightly, interrupting Elphaba’s panicked flow, mouth snapping shut as she flinched back, and oh, Galinda didn’t like that at all.
“I - hold on, wait, slow down,” she rushed out, trying to reassure her. “I’m not - I’m not… mad or anything. Just breathe.”
Elphaba’s head lifted at that. “But - what?”
“I’m not angry,” Galinda said carefully, slowly sitting down on the edge of Elphaba’s bed. “It’s - it’s fine Elphie, really. It was just a nightmare.”
________Elphaba has a nightmare and her magic throws her bedroom into chaos. Galinda tries to reassure her that she isn't angry about the mess.

She slapped a hand over her mouth at once, muffling the rest of her cry as it trailed off into a strangled whimper, her body trembling as she shut down her terror. She had gotten better at this, over the last few years, reeling her terror back inside of herself, slamming a lid on the memories, silencing herself upon waking before she even knew where she was or what had happened, before she had even opened her eyes. Silence was safer - silence was vital. She couldn’t let her father hear her.
________Elphaba Thropp's magic is powerful - too powerful for her to control. Especially while she sleeps, nightmares throwing the room into chaos as her magic lashes out, trying to protect her. All too often, growing up with a father like hers, it does the opposite.
She learns it's best to suffer in silence.Series
