Mike blinks, surprised by the freight-train force of that sudden thought.

“Who are you?” Mike shouts. His voice booms like a thunderstorm. The trees continue to thrash against one another. Oliver’s nose stings as something sharp and metallic ripples through the air.
“Didn’t you hear me?” He continues, moving towards Oliver. “Who. Are. You? Why are you here?”
“You weren’t in Book Club!” Oliver chokes out.

It’s a little surprising that after extensive questioning, Georgie informs Melanie over the radio that she’ll be bringing the strange man in custody home with her later that morning. Guests aren’t necessarily rare for them, but ones staying overnight from another dimension entirely? This would be a first for them.

Summary
When he startles and looks up directly at her, Georgie has to hold back a gasp. A web of pale scarring travels up the man's neck and cheeks, ending just right of his nose. There's an additional scar above his left eyebrow, but that one is rounder, sunk into his forehead like a crater. His eyes are brown, but slightly mismatched in shade. The left was lighter in color than the right one. It was a strange mix of features. She felt herself feeling slightly unsettled, but that may have also been due to those odd eyes narrowing at her now.
“Yes?” The man asks. “Something on my face?”
OR! A podcaster and an avatar of the Vast walk into a hospital waiting room and get to chatting.

Summary
The possibility of not recruiting Neil at all is never discussed.
It brings up a lot of questions, the protagonist thinks later that night, staring up at the ceiling. He will recruit Neil because he knows who Neil will become. It’s a stunted paradoxical little loop. How did it start?
The protagonist knows how it will end.
Unless…unless he walks away. Lying in the dark, wide awake, the protagonist is tempted.
(Can we change things, if we do it differently?)
But…
“What’s happened, happened,” the protagonist reminds himself.
Besides (selfish, selfish). He wants to see Neil again.Somewhere in between the end and the beginning, Neil and the protagonist manage to find a little time.

Summary
Some corner of Min-Gi's mind kept trying to tell him that this wasn’t sustainable, that he was hurtling towards a cliff’s edge and sooner or later he’d go over it and take Ryan down with him, break them both, break their friendship and their band and literally everything he had and it would all be over. He didn’t want to believe it. He wanted to believe he could just keep pushing this down forever— because even in his most optimistic moments, he knew the way he felt was never going away.
This was meant to be a one-shot. It isn't, anymore, because I just... care about these two and wanted to explore them a little more.
